Reduce, Reuse, Upcycle: Mona B Bags
Posted by Pam Vincent on 2017 Dec 4th
Even a decade ago, the idea of the fashion world making any significant waves in environmentalism
would have been laughable to most, maybe even inconceivable. These days, planet-friendly fashion isn’t
just the trend du jour, it’s a full-blown movement. Eco-friendly designers have not only firmly planted
their feet at all of major international fashion weeks, they’re also dramatically changing the cultural
conversation the media and masses are having about fashion and consumerism.
Take, for example, one of our favourite eco-conscious labels, Mona B. The Ohio-based handbag and
accessories brand has gained a devout cult following from planet-conscious fashionistas around the
world since its military-inspired designs hit the market just nine years ago. Handmade from recycled
army tents and truck tarps, a Mona B bag is not only repurposing at its most chic, each one has a truly
unique story behind it that only adds to its flair. If one-of- a-kind pieces were once the exclusive gems of
haute couture, they just got a serious upcycling makeover.
